Yves Voets teaches in the Belgian Army!

Yves Voets will do a seminar in the Belgian Army on 23th october 09.

He will be assisted by Didier Coppens from our academy.

It will be a whole day training in the art of Muay Thai.

The seminar is open for members of the Belgian Army only and the benefits go to Kinderkankerdag Planckendael.

It is the 4th year in a row that our Academy is involved in this event.

On 30th april 2009 our crew gave initiation in MMA to the students of KTA Zottegem.

The training was devided in 3 parts : Thaiboxing - Takedowns - Ground.

It was a good training, all students learned a lot.

It's not the first time that our crew was there, we have already worked for this school in the past.

Yesterdayeve's Jeet Kune Do-training...

Yesterdayeve we had another great JKD-seminar in the JKD International Academy.

In JKD there are no secrets, it's a simple system designed for the street. JKD has nothing to do with the ring or the octagon.

You just punch when you have to punch and kick when you have to kick. On the picture you see Marnix and Tonny working on one of the basics : the Straight Kick.

Like every JKD-training we start from the first second with throwing punches and kicks. First stationary, but afterwarts there was also special attention to footwork.

As usual the training was very intensive with only a few basic techniques and a lot of drills. Many details that really makes JKD work were covered and after a couple of hours everybody was exhausted but learned a lot.

In 2 weeks JKD-icon Tommy Carruthers from Scotland will teach a seminar for the International Bodyguard & Security Services Association in Belgium.

We now already for sure that besides our students 10 of the instructors of the JKD International Academy will attend his seminar. But there will be also a lot of participants from different countries.

On 30th april 2009 our crew gave initiation in different Martial Arts to the students of KTA Dendermonde.

Thaiboxing - UCCS Unarmed - UCCS Batons were the themes.

It was a great trainingsession, the students worked very well and KTA Dendermonde indicated to wanna work more with our staff in the future.

In memoriam Yves Van de Casteele

Met diepe treurnis meld ik jullie het heengaan van onzen master "Yves" of "Yveken" voor de vrienden. Yves zijn leven is abrupt aan het einde gekomen in de nacht van 2 op 3 mei.

Wij denken vooral aan zijn familie die dit groot verdriet moeten verwerken en in het bijzonder aan zijn zuster Darline zwanger van één van zijn toekomstige petekindjes.

Wij zullen Yves moeten missen als vaste trainer die zich geweldig ingezet heeft voor onze taekwondoclub en de eerstvolgende hoge gordel was na master Patrick. Hij heeft zich op training altijd laten kennen als een enorm goedhartig persoon met een bijzonder zacht en eerlijk karakter. Hij was soms te braaf voor deze wereld en wie hem kende, mocht hem altijd alles vragen. Hij zou altijd alles gedaan hebben voor zijn vrienden en wel op het eerste woord. Mijn gemoed schiet vol, want ik ken Yves persoonlijk al vanop de lagere school in Herzele, waarna ik hem later terug tegen gekomen ben in de beginjaren van Hodori Herzele. Ik ben met hem samen groot geworden in het taekwondo en heb zijn successen vanop de eerste plaats mee gemaakt.

Specifiek herinner ik me altijd zijn bijzonder goede feeling met kinderen die zijn god waren. Drie weken geleden op het eetfestijn van de boxclub van Jean-Bernard was hij er samen met ons nog bij en speelde hij met mijn dochtertje Sienna van 4,5 jaar. Desondanks dat hij emotioneel in de put zat de laatste tijd trok hij onbewust de aandacht van Sienna, die met hem is beginnen te spelen. Het was de zachtheid die sprak en zijn natuurlijke klik met kinderen.

Zijn zuster Darline gaat ons nog een overlijdensbericht bezorgen mbt de begrafenis.

Onze innige deelneming aan zijn familie vanwege het clubbestuur en wij wensen hen veel moed en steun bij elkaar in deze donkere dagen. De wereld staat ook voor ons stil op dit moment.

De begrafenisplechtigheid zal plaatsvinden in de kerk van Herzele op zaterdag 9 mei om 11u15.

Tommy Carruthers for the first time in Belgium in 2009!

Next month the worldfamous Tommy Carruthers will teach for the first time ever in Belgium. He is a professional Martial Artist who is located in Scotland where he trains a select group of JKD'ers at his basement.

Sifu Tommy is worldwide considered as the best JKD'er there is nowadays. As a professional Martial Artist he does seminars all around the world. Tommy is one of the few people who taught in the past Gung Fu in China, a country that has such a massive history in the arts. But also in countries as Russia, Germany, Spain, Italy & The States he is well known.

In may Tommy will teach for a lot of Professional Bodyguards from IBSSA - The International Bodyguard & Security Services Association. IBSSA is the biggest Bodyguardorganisation in the world and has a policy to work only with the very best Martial Artists available on the market.

Dietmar Lambrecht is also one of the new instructors in UCCS Aalst!

Dietmar is a professional in the Security Business and has almost 2 decades of trainingexperience.

Besides his passion for Martial Arts, he competes also in Body Building contests. In the past he already won the silver medal on the Belgian Championships.

Dietmar teaches UCCS, besides that he also trains in MMA.

Seminar Christo was just great!

The seminar with Christo was just great. The attendees received a lot of details about punching & kicking. A lot of basic techniques were covered. Many repetitions with a lot of adjustments by Christo.

The padtraining was also a big part of this Thaiboxingseminar. The students worked in rounds, each round had a different combination. Special attention to footwork, covering, counters, evasions, timing, stepping in - stepping out and much, much more!!

Christo is also a great believer in conditioning. So near the end of the seminar there were a lot of High Intension Drills. Everybody was completly exhausted, but all were on the same line in there comments: This guy is just great!

Christo will be certainly back in the future. Just keep on folowing the seminarcalender...

Davine Delaere wint overtuigend debuutkamp!

Davine Delaere , dochter van trainer Jan, blijft actief binnen het clubgebeuren van Karate-Jitsu Izegem, maar heeft daarnaast de stap gezet naar het “engels” boksen bij Boxing Club Lichtervelde. Trainer Filip Tampere doet er alles aan om haar maximaal klaar te stomen voor de ring. Ook van haar “boks”vriendin Delfine Persoon krijgt ze heel wat goede raad. Davine won overtuigend haar debuutkamp tegen de franse Justine Mirabella zaterdag 28 februari te Lichtervelde.

Yvonne Zanting has worked for many years as a fitness model all over Europe and is nowadays a Professional Personal Trainer.

She has worked in countries like Belgium, France, Italy, The Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Sweden, Spain, Greece, etc...

Yvonne stood several times succesfull in the ring on MMA-competitions and has trained many years in MMA. She has an enourmes background in groundfighting, her specialisation.

She works also as a Professional Bodyguard and followed several courses in Hungary under the International Bodyguard & Security Services Association.

Yvonne is one of the trainers in our new school UCCS-Aalst.

Blitzstart voor Urban Close Combat System Zottegem!

Afgelopen zaterdag startte er in sportcomplex Future Sports onze nieuwe afdeling Urban Close Combat System Zottegem. Deze nieuwe UCCS-groep kon onmiddellijk rekenen op een gemotiveerd aantal nieuwe leden die enorm opgetogen waren over de unieke lesmethodes van onze instructeurs. Er werd getraind in de Unarmed Module met daarin allereerst een uitgebreide inleiding en nadien heel veel praktijk...

Volgende zaterdag starten er terug nieuwe leden die ons ondertussen gecontacteerd hebben. De zaterdagtrainingen gaan door van 1000 tem 1200 u. Iedereen die geïnterresseerd is, kan meer info verkrijgen via secretariaat@jkd.be of 0478/36.00.21.

Just like last year, Dorian Beerens and Eric Duyshaver will teach Tactical Casuality Combat Care on this event.

The second Special Guestinstructor on the UCCS 2009 Weekend Seminar is nobody less than Kristzian Zerkowitz!

Kristzian is a professional Bodyguard and an official instructor of the International Bodyguard & Security Services Association.

Trainingsessions instructor Eddie are topnotch!

The trainingsessions of our new instructor Eddie Arapetjan are realy topnotch!

This young man started only 2 months ago to teach at our academy and is the living prove that some people are just born with great teachingskills.

His lessons are always well structured and he has the ability to bring them with a lot of humour.

Besides teaching he also keeps up his workouts in MMA. Eddie has exceptional Boxing skills, but every week he is also getting better and better on the ground.

Today MMA-instructor Jurgen Persoons showed some great groundtechniques at the Academy. One of them was a tactic to get a shoulder lock, some pictures to illustrate...

OMOPLATA

Jurgen starts with a Full Guard.


He changes position to the Rubber Guard.


Jurgen goes to an inside position.


He then rotates his body to his left shoulder.



He controls the opponent's shoulder with his right leg.



Jurgen adjusts his position by pulling his left leg in.



He finishes his tactic by driving his hip forward and gets the desired shoulder lock.

The staff of the JKD International Academy constantly works to improve the teachingskills of new upcomming instructors.

It takes many years to deliver a decent instructor, iow it can not be achieved by quick certifications, and for that it is a process of constant coaching, practice and feedback.

One of them who is realy doing very well is Thomas De Geest. In the above sequence you see Thomas teaching JKD Trapping Hands. Last week, while teaching to the academymembers, he was assisted by instructor Ben De Raeve.

Thomas is already a UCCS-initiator and is fully determined to become one day a full instructor.

Seminar Thaiboxing Yves Voets big success!

The seminar yesterday was once more a big succes. A full house with a very motivated group and a great instructor.

Yves showed a lot of details of his unique manner of Thaiboxing, iow always playing the tactical game in a way that the adversary does'nt expect.

Althow he is a great believer in basic technical training, Yves has a very unorthodox way of fighting, something that became his trademark thru the years.

It was 3 hours of hard working and the seminarattendees were very positive about Yves's great teachingabilities.

Several topinstructors of the JKD International Academy like Davy Loete, Jetske Geerts, Eddie Arapetjan and Jurgen Persoons were also present to attend Yves's classes.

The master of Technical Boxing will perform his 4th seminar for us in 2009!

4 new black belts in Dutch affiliated school!

Op zaterdag 6 december 08 hebben maar liefs 4 leerlingen van de Karateschol Wadokan hun zwarte band karate (1e dan) behaald.

In plaats van het bondsexamen verkozen de leerlingen van de Rozenburgse karateschool “Wadokan” het uitgebreidere examen voor de commissie van de Wado Ryu stijlgroep af te leggen.

Bij het vrije onderdeel (Ippon-kumite) lieten zij een groot aantal technieken uit het Close Combat zien.

De afgelopen 3 maanden trainden de karateka’s bijna dagelijks om hun techniek en conditie naar een zo hoog mogelijk peil te brengen.

Het resultaat was dat zij op overtuigende wijze slaagden en het 1e dan-diploma met de bijbehorende zwarte band in ontvangst kon nemen.

De Wadokan-Rozenburg staat onder leiding van sensei Hans Over de Vest.

Proficiat aan Hans en de nieuwe zwarte gordels!

Master Teacher Didier Coppens is invited to teach on the Budoday of the Flemish Budo Federation.

He will teach UCCS to all participants.

UCCS Izegem now also full member of our association!

The Karate-Jitsu school from senseis Jan Delaere & Tim Carrette was already a member of our Association.

Their second school Urban Close Combat System Izegem is now also an affiliate of the JKD International Academy Association & Related Arts.

This new school is a major succes with a lot of members. For their UCCS-school the two new instructors created their own UCCS-logo's, T-shirts, stickers, etc...

Congratualations to Jan & Tim with the great results achieved in 2008!

Master Teacher Didier Coppens seminar in UCCS Izegem!

Yesterdayeve Master Teacher Didier Coppens did a seminar for Urban Close Combat System Izegem. It was his first seminar for this group which recently started in 2008 and it was a very succesfull evening!

In the first part of this special training Didier showed a lot of the basics of UCCS. During the second half, the special Walking Tall module was demonstrated and intensivly trained. The evening braught a lot of new materials to this school. The training was a mix of transpiration and fun.

All classattendees came well prepared to the seminar and this thx to the two leading instructors of the school Jan Delaere and Tim Carrette. Both are offical instructors under Didier Coppens. Next year - part II.
